Information Visualization

Information Visualization is a research field that aim to use modern 3D computer graphics techniques to communicate information clearly and effectively through graphical means. The abstract data include both numerical data, such as high dimensional statistical datasets, and non-numerical data, such as text and geographic information. To convey ideas effectively, both aesthetic form and functionality need to go hand in hand, providing insights into a rather sparse and complex data set by communicating its key-aspects in a more intuitive way. Ideal Information Visualization should not only communicate clearly, but stimulate viewer engagement and attention.
