The application is useful in many fields, such as biology, geosciences and engineering applications. Go to official website
DIVERSE is a cross-platform, open source, API for developing virtual reality applications that can run almost anywhere. DIVERSE currently runs on Linux and IRIX. Support for Windows XP and Mac OS X is under development. The goal of DIVERSE is to enable developers to quickly build applications that will run on the desktop as well as various immersive systems. The software is developed in Virginia Tech and currently supported by Open Tech firm. The VISTA team is part of the DIVERSE international development community. Go to official website
NAMD is a parallel molecular dynamics code designed for high-performance simulation of large bio molecular systems. Based on Charm++ parallel objects, NAMD scales to hundreds of cores for typical simulations and beyond 200,000 cores for the largest simulations. NAMD uses the popular molecular graphics program VMD for simulation setup and trajectory analysis, but is also file-compatible with AMBER, CHARMM, and X-PLOR. NAMD is distributed free of charge with source code. Go to official website
The OpenSceneGraph is an open source high performance 3D graphics toolkit, used by application developers in fields such as visual simulation, games, virtual reality, scientific visualization and modeling. Written entirely in Standard C++ and OpenGL it runs on all Windows platforms, OSX, GNU/Linux, IRIX, Solaris, HP-Ux, AIX and FreeBSD operating systems. Go to official website
RTI is a computational photographic method that captures a subject’s surface shape and color and enables the interactive re-lighting of the subject from any direction. RTI also permits the mathematical enhancement of the subject’s surface shape and color attributes. The enhancement functions of RTI reveal surface information that is not disclosed under direct empirical examination of the physical object. Go to official website
Slicer is an open-source software for segmentation, registration and visualization of medical imaging data. Slicer is a multi-platform software developed and maintained on Mac OSX, Linux 64 & 32, and Windows 64 & 32. Go to official website
